The Hidden Waterfall

On Saturday, my dear friend - whose house I'm often at with the twins & their big sister - and I took the 4 1/2 year olds to The Hidden Falls.  This is an amazing, fairly-unknown treasure.  Case in point, I lived about 5 miles from it at Swamp River and Never.  Knew.  About.  It!  (Susan, this is where you and I hiked.)

Crazy, huh?

The path is pretty short but a little steep in places:

But check it out!

While we were dangling our feet in the river, an ebony jewelwing (damselfly) landed on my big toe!  No pictures (especially these!) could do it justice - they have brilliant teal green bodies and black, iridescent wings.  The sun spotlights every single facet of their make-up.

The adventurous little man *outwardly* enjoyed it seemingly more than his more tentative sister, but she had just as much fun!  It looks like I've left him in a rather dangerous situation in the above  left picture (!!), but he's sitting down in the water.  Promise!  😊

After the morning's adventure and during a super quick stop at Mama & Papa Pea's (I didn't even let the kids out of the car), Papa Pea gifted little Twin Girl with a very freshly-laid goose egg.  She didn't let go of it for the rest of the day!  (Pardon the outfit - after swimming at the campground lake in the afternoon, she opted for the comfy look.)  Here we are, getting gas before heading home.

There was much discussion and a bit of contention regarding the consumption of this egg, but I assured them that it was big enough that it could be shared three ways come Sunday morning breakfast!  💗

  1. Glad I got a first-hand explanation that the little man truly was not in danger before I saw these pictures just posted! Looks like he could have been swept down stream like a fishing bobber! Also know he must have LOVED the adventure.

P.S. You should have explained who did your very creative and colorful pedicure! ;o)
